too good tuesday 10

9 Jul

lifeisgoodFLOWERSEverything has been too good lately. John and I did the big move over a week ago, and couldn’t be more thrilled with the upgrade to our new house. We hosted both sets of parents this weekend, and enjoyed sitting in the sun on the brand new patio furniture, and dreamed up recipes for the newly acquired BBQ (many inspired by a gifted cookbook & its feature beer can chicken). Sunday, we watched John play softball, while eating a picnic dinner that consisted of our fresh catch from the Columbia River in an amazing cold bean salad. I found a bit of time between innings and taught my little cousins how to draw owls! The weather in the Kootenays has been ridiculous… hello summer! With all this sunshine, I can’t wait to get on our beautiful bikes and cruise around the new neighbourhood. Yesterday, I started a new part-time job, working for a dragon; After two happily engaged years, my beau and I have been finally talking plans about the wedding, the prospect of owning our own home, and maybe someday even raising a family… all of these things require money! We have been doing well for ourselves, considering we’re both chasing careers that are fueled mostly by passion, but the prospect of saving up for a brighter future has me excited to also put in some work away from the studio.  I’ve also been continuing to paint under the open sky, as you can see above, adding to my adventures with watercolours. Life is good these days.

too good tuesday 7

7 May

YAY, too good tuesday is back! Lots of things to be happy & thankful for: birthdayIt was my birthday last tuesday! And it was too good: festive army balloon, epic pulled chicken tacos, scrumptious a la mode brownies, raspberry inspired cocktails, purple tulips and a happy and jingly chloroplast. I also got many messages or calls from loved ones and a few belated gifts arrived too!bikingmay5Getting the bikes tuned up and hitting the hills! dextersrestingplaceMy parents buried dearest dexter‘s ashes on a beautiful hill on the family cabin’s property: offering him a mighty fine resting spot, and hopefully further closure for all of us. IMG_4015A return to childhood with healthy snacks: ants on a log! The top row was the 1st test with hummus, cracked pepper & basil; no clever name for it as of yet though, nor the other “log” experiments I am dreaming up.maythefourthA fantastic “may the fourth be with you” kegger party, which I made an epic t-shirt for. Geekery and alcohol will always prevail.

A lot of time was spent with my sketchbooks last week too (as I mentioned in my post yesterday). Any too good things happen lately that you’d like to share?

too good tuesday #2

19 Feb

Life has been flying by (as per usual), and it’s already time for the second installment of too good tuesday. Here is my previous round up of links, in case you missed it last week.valentinestreatValentine’s Day was sweet and thoughtful. blueskyOutside, it felt like spring; blue skies overhead.natashanewtonNatasha Newton’s new blog/project is gorgeous and inspiring. indianNOMToasting brand new spices and cooking from scratch all day yielded one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever made. printmakingGot back to printmaking & started producing some new moleskines for my shop. Had a happy accident when almost running out of lino ink… mixed 1 part block printing ink to 1 part screen print ink: the ink block stayed moist, had better ink transfer to both the plate and paper, and my prints dried quickly.

What was too good to you this past week?
