upcoming shows & workshops

17 Jul

This summer has been flying by, and if you asked me where the first half of July went, I couldn’t tell you. As the end of the month quickly approaches, so do some of my fun summer art commitments! Screen Shot 2013-07-17 at 9.01.17 AM I love spending warm days in the sun, listening to tunes and selling art. This year marks my first time participating in Kootenay Festival here in Castlegar and I can’t wait! We get to celebrate the amazing diversity that exists in our community, all day Saturday July 27th, in the large green space next to the Kootenay Gallery of Art. Screen Shot 2013-07-17 at 9.05.20 AMA short 8 days after I will be in another town I call home, Invermere, for the 6th annual Tour of the Arts. This will mark the 5th time I’ve participated in the show; I always enjoy running into familiar faces and long time friends. This year the tour has moved to involve the downtown core and the lovely gardens near Pynelogs Gallery, so hopefully it will garner even more exposure and interest with such a central location! artist posters workshops summ...Another exciting thing I make sure to do every summer is teach art workshops for kids. It is so rewarding to teach children new ways to be creative while they’re away from school for the summer. This year I am teaching exclusively at Black Star Studios and have four super cool activities set up for the youngins. We’ll be pressing buttons, making magnets, shrinky dinking, writing snail mail, collaging on journals and more! For more info check out the cute poster the Blackstar girls made for my workshops, or give them a buzz (250-342-6663) if you think your kids would love an afternoon of crafting with yours truly. I will also hope to see you out at these festivals if you dwell here in the gorgeous Kootenay Mountains.
