i remember you

13 Jan

In early 2011 I experienced a bout of bad luck, including the unfortunate situation where my completed Art House Sketchbook Project went missing within the postal system. I was heart broken after spending countless hours on it, transforming it into a nature loving, black fur covered book. It took me a while to get over it, but I decided my best solution was to pick up the pieces, move on and sign up to participate in the project again in order to honor the lost/stolen one; the theme I chose was “I Remember You.”To my surprise, I was greeted by an e-mail from Shane who is a co-ordinator at Art House who pretty much said I wasn’t going to spend a penny on this project. Now I will admit that despite their generosity, I let the summer and my insane One of a Kind preparations get in the way of any leisurely sketch time to put towards it.  However with the postmark deadline fast approaching (a short few weeks away), I’ve finally gotten the gusto to dust off the cobwebs around this envelope and already have ideas swirling since I’m using my lost sketchbook images as inspiration for my new pages. Stay tuned to the blog this month for photos of completed spreads!

It’s a great feeling when some one recognizes your contributions, effort and determination. Congratulations!!! Knock your socks off and blow them out of the water. Even if you don’t take first prize you can already consider yourself a Winner!

Aw, that’s so great of the Sketchbook Project to be so personal and thoughtful! I loved watching your last year’s book come to life and this one will surely be just as tremendous. I hope they take a photo of it when it arrives to New York and they’re waving it about in victory. I’ve waited to the last few weeks, too, so I’m joining you on the intensely focused sketchbook blitz! Good luck and have fun! :D
