a day to remember

13 Jul

Yesterday was what a vacation in the valley is all about: good food, good people & good times. John and I woke up at a decent hour and went for a classic Canadian breakfast with my sister and her hubby to Tim Hortons. We then went our separate ways: the three went off to the Ridge at Copper Point for 18 holes of golf, while I headed downtown to Blackstar Gallery for another “visiting artist” day with Natalie (just like last time). For this round,  I was working hard to finish a two color gocco print edition, half of which is headed to a print exchange based out of Michigan. The edition didn’t have to be exclusive to the exchange, so I printed a larger edition so I could have some for sale on my Etsy shop and at the Tour of the Arts. This image is inspired by a piece of mail art i sent to Amanda White. Later on, John met me at the Blackstar after golf, and we headed off to the Scotty Burger Cafe to see good friends and have a quick bite to eat. After that it was back to my cabin to cook a home-made lasagna, caesar salad and garlic bread. Nine friends came over for cocktails and then indulged in this most delicious homemade meal.We were joined by two others shortly after clearing the plates, who arrived just in time to be spoiled along with us by an amazing, free and private concert by the talented singer/songwriter/guitarist David Blair and Bryan Deans conductor/songwriter/cellist. This first video features the two of them rocking out – sorry for the late start on the video, but David intro-ed with Lady Gaga then busted into his own original song. Too good!   We were very lucky to have these talented boys play for us! Every time I have the opportunity to indulge in an evening like this, in my family cabin, next to my favorite lake on the planet, with some of the most amazing people I know, I can’t help but be thankful for all of the love, laughter and liberties of my incredible life. I am so blessed.

Awesome concert! Love that they have a cello! Also love the bear in the background–what a stunner. :) It does indeed seem like you had the perfect vacation day.
