the small felt heart

12 Apr

One of my twitter pals and mail art friends Rhya Tamasauskas (aka rhyat) sent me a felt heart in a mail art package last week. She had asked me to go on an adventure and stick it to something that was in need of love. First I thought I’d give it to this lonely black dog that is ALWAYS  shut outside, but turns out he’s in no mood to make new friends (holy aggressive barking batman)! I realized I had to set my sights on something else instead. So after receiving a excess of junk mail, bills, only one letter last week and then absolutely nothing on Monday, I decided I had to perk up my lonely mail box with the supplies and instructions miss Rhya had given me.  I realized right away that it couldn’t go on the outside for various reasons: Someone would peel it off, it would get dirty, everyone else in my neighborhood would be jealous, etc. I decided to place it inside, after all that’s where hearts belong. Well guess what? The lovin’ seems to have worked! I discovered a nice fat check from a very successful sales month in March from Blackstar Gallery as well as this beauty from Michelle Ashton (aka zbyshka): This package would have fooled any mail art veteran; this is her first attempt at mail art, and let me tell you, no one would have ever guessed. It had everything I like to discover: A decorated envelope filled with a plethora of goodies like stickers, drawings, stamps, postcards, photos, and more. So happy the felt heart willed good things my way so soon!
